2024 TPA News
For those of you who missed voting or the business meetings, quite a bit happened at this year’s TPA Conference. The biggest news of all is that we had more people who voted than we did in attendance! Thank you, everyone, for taking time to let your voices be heard!
Perhaps the biggest news that came out of this year’s TPA is that we are NOW ACCEPTING creative work and undergraduate work. We will have sessions specifically for both areas of writing, Undergraduate students will need to submit completed papers (just like graduate students). Please be sure to share this news with your undergraduates and creative writing friends and colleagues!
A number motions were passed this year to help move the TPA forward. The first motion passed is that the executive committee will begin paying for their own executive dinners, and the money originally earmarked for those dinners has been reallocated to the website’s fees and maintenance.
While the 2025 dates and location are set (February 21-23, 2025, at Freed-Hardeman University), we also are in talks to work our way back east in 2026. The executive committee is committed, as always, to ensuring we are hitting the big three regions.
The theme for the 2025 theme is… (drum roll)… The Mysterious, which will include (but is not limited to) literature of mystery and the uncanny. Our CFP will be coming out earlier this year to give everyone lots of time to take a walk on the mysterious side.
Last, but certainly not least, the executive committee is excited that Nich Krause was nominated and confirmed to be our next Member-at-Large. Nich has served as the PR and Social Media manager for TPA since 2021 and has consistently brought thoughtful and amazing scholarship to our community conference after conference. Please, join us in welcoming Nich Krause to the TPA executive committee!
